Child safety

Make it Safe is a campaign from the British Blind and Shutter Association (BBSA) to promote window blind safety in all homes, public buildings and other environments where babies and young children may be present.

Window blinds are an increasingly popular form of window dressing with virtually limitless designs, styles, finishes and operating methods. All blinds produced and sold after February 2014 must comply with specific child safety requirements (BS EN 13120).

Some existing blinds installed before February 2014 may have cords or chains that operate the blind and which could pose a serious hazard to babies and young children if they can gain access to the blind.
